The Internet has changed how we meet people, have conversations, and spend time with others. Our lives are no longer influenced only by those close to us physically. We are connecting daily with the rest of the world.

Globalization is no longer something that only pertains to some companies or corporations. Globalization is part of everyone’s life. And I mean everyone… whether you are a student, a parent, a mentor, an employee, an entrepreneur, a CEO, a writer, a speaker, a coach, or an artist.

Are you connected to the world? Whether you are an Internet user or have a cell phone,  you certainly are. So how can you develop a global mindset and increase your possibilities and opportunities?

Our first step to a Global Mindset:  We must understand that we are part of globalization.

Look at the numbers:

As of June 2017, out of the 7.5 billion total people in the world:

• 3.9 billion are Internet users
• 2.8 billion are active social media users.

Mobile subscriptions are growing around 3% year-on-year globally and reached 7.5 billion in 2016. [Ericson’s 2017 mobility report]

As we are reading these lines, there are thousands of new users of the Internet developing new ways to communicate and to connect to others.

Further, I believe, without a doubt that many new cultures are emerging on the Internet as the world becomes a village and the Internet becomes the place where billions of users meet every day. I dare to say that the eighth continent is not a pile of garbage in some far place; the eighth continent is the Internet, with 3.7 billion plus inhabitants.

• By 2022, people accessing the Internet on phones and tablets are set to reach 9 billion users.

Are you part of this movement? You are probably reading this article in front of your computer or maybe on your phone.

I am guessing you also have friends around the world sharing probably the same hobbies and values and liking the same pictures or blogs. Yes, we are part of a movement.
