One of the hallmarks that every leader has is his vision. Vision is the indispensable element of every leader.

Vision is what guides the leader. It allows him to visualize his goal. It gives him the internal energy to walk towards the future. Without vision, the leader does not have passion. Furthermore, nobody will follow him because he does not have a defined course. Walt Disney is the best example of this: he had a clear vision, which led him to success despite all his difficulties. Today we know how his vision materialized and still continues to be successful.

Is your vision clear and defined?

If you have a clear and distinct vision, the next step is to be able to articulate it. Communicating a compelling and clear vision will allow you to properly associate with others in order to increase your probability of success.

Don’t forget that nobody achieves great things alone. It requires a good team that has the same vision. By joining forces with others, you can move towards your goal surely and quickly.

It is a fact that we currently live in a globalized world. The constant growth of the Internet and virtual communications allow us to reach and access literally any place on this planet in no time.

This is where the ability to express a clear and concise vision is vital. Your leadership will be limited if you are not prepared to expand your influence at a multicultural level.

In the corporate world having a multicultural vision is even more significant. Here, it is critical to have influential relationships with employees, shareholders, suppliers, and customers on a global scale and in multicultural environments. For Disney, having a multicultural vision allowed him to connect successfully beyond his own culture and extend his organization around the world.

In order to be able to articulate a clear multicultural vision, you need to make sure that your vision:

• Is original, unique, and has significance for you and for those around you;
• Reflects a historical context for you and your organization;
• Includes you as a part of it;
• Contributes to your success and that of those who will benefit from your contribution;
• Has a social and/or economic impact not only for the members of your organization but for the community that you are serving;
• Is articulated in plural and that it includes place of origin, gender, ethnicity, and organizational culture;
• Facilitate the connection within employees, shareholders, suppliers, and customers under a joint vision.

In today’s globalized world, a clear vision with a multicultural perspective will not only take your leadership to higher levels of effectiveness, but your teams and organizations will also reach higher levels of achievement and results.
