Being able to end the day with a sense of success can be a real challenge.
We would love to be able to end the day with a great sense of accomplishment for having worked towards our goals but what we have actually done at the end of the day can be discouraging. Distractions, interruptions, tiredness, and fatigue take a great portion of our days and we don’t get to complete what we want or should do.
Albert Einstein, one of the great thinkers of this century used to say, “if we continue doing the same things, we are not going to have different results”. So, how can we change our approach and finally get done what we aim to do during our day?
I still remember the feeling of disappointment I experienced when I realized that the only day that we have is today. I was so busy, better say overwhelm chasing multiple projects at the same time and trying to do my best every day. I couldn’t extend the 24 hours of the day; yet, I didn’t stay away from my dreams.
Yesterday is no longer at our reach. There are lessons, experiences, memories that we love to carry from the past to our present and hopefully to our future. Some of this lessons, memories, and experiences have really enriched our days. In essence, thanks to our past we became who we are today; we are the results of our past. Yet, the past is gone and there is not much that we can change from yesterday.
On the other hand, tomorrow seems to be more reachable as we spend a lot of time building our future; yet in reality, there is not too much we can do as tomorrow is not here yet.
What is left for us? Today. As my friend and partner John Maxwell stated “today matters, it is too late for yesterday, and we can’t depend on tomorrow” so if all we have is today.
Based on my personal experiences and from studying people that have success on a daily basis, I believe that focusing on today is the starting point. Having success on a daily basis requires three (3) basic and critical elements:
- An intense desire for achievement, as if your life depended on it. Beyond fulfilling a role, carrying out a responsibility, or doing what you were told to do, you must have an intense desire to achieve your goals. What is really important to you?
- Having an attitude of tenacity that doesn’t let you give up. There are many reasons or excuses not to do things. However, you must have that steadiness to prioritize your plan whenever urgent things, interruptions, social media without a reason or friends without any kind of ambition show up at your door to deviate from your goals. Be nice but firm, let them go and learn to never surrender to your dreams.
- A plan and a strategy to follow. Not including them is like driving your car without knowing where you are going. This is dangerous and will not get you anywhere. Your purpose, vision, and goals should (yes, should) be divided into small logical steps that allow you to perform them during the day, such as 30 minutes of talking to someone you love or 7 hours of sleeping, that important meeting, those important calls, etc.
I know that it can be very overwhelming when you have a desire to achieve a goal, but do not have an action plan to execute daily.
This is why I created the program: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SUCCESS IN 2018: yes, you can make it happen, with THE 8 ELEMENTS THAT EVERY SUCCESSFUL PLAN MUST HAVE.

At the end of the day if you do things that give you an intense desire to achieve, things that are part of your plan & strategy, and you have not given up on them Bingo! You have started on your path to a successful day.
Question: How can you do things differently to have a successful “today”?
